Foreword by Thomas McArthur, Alumni Engagement & Annual Giving
From the comforting familiarity of a family recipe passed down through generations, to the bold and innovative flavors that reflect the dynamic mission of UB, these recipes celebrate the many cultures and experiences that make our university a global community.
We were overwhelmed by our call for submissions, receiving 33 contributions from our esteemed alumni. This overwhelming participation is a testament to the enduring connection our alumni feel towards UB, no matter where life has taken them. Our alumni are as diverse as the recipes they have shared—spanning continents, cultures, and professions—yet they all share a common bond: the University at Buffalo.
Initiatives like this cookbook, made possible through the collaboration between the UB Alumni Association and the University Libraries, exemplify our commitment to fostering unity within our community. They provide a platform for alumni to reconnect with their alma mater, share their stories, and contribute to UB’s legacy. It is projects like these that keep the UB spirit alive and thriving, offering opportunities for lifelong connections that transcend time and distance.
I invite you to explore the pages of this cookbook, savor the rich flavors, and appreciate the stories behind each dish. May Flavors of Unity inspire you to try something new, reconnect with old memories, and celebrate the diversity that makes University at Buffalo such a special place.
